Mother's Day in Nicaragua

Image
How did we get from this... David, hours old. ... to this??? David, 10 months old.      Today is Mother's Day in Nicaragua.  My heart is full of praise for a healthy, baby boy and a husband who was so thoughtful to surprise me with an arrangement of roses this morning!      I am also thankful for my own mom and my Grandmommy.  Two days ago, my grandparents celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary !  My family is so blessed to have their example and presence in our lives!                    So far, being a mom has been a mix of joys, surprises, uncertainties, lessons learned, and fun!          I am doubly blessed to be able to celebrate both American and Nicaraguan Mother's Day but I have to say that I am very glad not to be doing this parenting thing alone -- praise the Lord, it is a team effort!  ...

9 Month Pictures

Image
Ok, well the boy is pushing 10 1/2 months, so these pictures are a bit late....but better late than never! Though these pictures are not the latest, here are some of David's current interests: - eating anything, any time, anywhere - reading books - playing with empty water bottles - standing alone (for up to 5 seconds) - dumping toys on the ground - dumping more toys on the ground

The True Indianapolis Star

Image
Breaking news shook the sports world on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.  Star quarterback, Peyton Manning was indeed released by the Indianapolis Colts.  Many observed and wondered how Luke Rosenberger would take this news.  Yet once again his response has shocked and impressed the onlooking fans.      Though once he considered the Colts his identity, his response to this understandibly upsetting news was driven by his true identity in Christ.  It seems that Rosenberger, though upset and grieving the loss of this great quarterback, has his sights set on greater things in life, namely his relationship with God, his family, and the youth he ministers to.       Rosenberger reportedly watched the press conference and other videos of Manning in the comfort of his home with his personal cheerleader and wife, Ellen Rosenberger.  The couple was later seen enjoying a movie together at a local mall....

Learning a Third Language!

Image
Ever since our son, David Luke, was born, he has completely taken over my blog posts!  And rightly so...he is, in his parents' opinion, the cutest baby there is!          However, my wonderful husband, Luke, deserves some recognition and attention on these pages.  Recently I've found that one of Luke's primary love languages is "Words of Affirmation".  Now, I am fluent in English and Spanish but in the past few months I have been attempting to learn a third language, namely, "Words of Affirmation".  How hard could it be?            Well, for someone who grew up in Bolivia hearing and speaking Spanish, I realized I honestly had never experienced the pain, frustration, and confusion of learning a new language.  Spanish came natural to me as I was surrounded by it from four years of age and on.     ...

Me and My Friend, Beto

Image
The occasion for this photo shoot? Alberto and I came to Bible Study dressed in the same outfit! Our mommies thought it was a funny coincidence but we know better. And they think we don't talk - if they only knew! The only thing is, Beto must not have gotten the memo about jean shorts. Oh well, we'll try again another time. By the way, we're in my neighbor, Noah Deibert's, backyard. He has a cool view and he's my buddy too. And just in case you were confused, I'm the one on the left. Yes, yes, Beto is taller than me even though he is a month younger. And we're both still trying to grow some hair (at least I have a few more strands than him at the moment). People say we are both mini-versions of our daddies, which we think is pretty cool. Mommy says that I'll have to say goodbye to my pal soon because his family is moving to ...

Pull-ups!

Image
Ok, not quite....we're still in the diaper stage but David is definitely PULLING UP on everything!  This guy is a little mover.  He loves pulling up on the coffee table, chairs, shelves, kitchen cabinets, beds, his crib, and Momma's legs.
