Life Lately

It's been a while since our last update.  Since February 18th to be exact.  That's when we announced that our family will be moving this summer to Colorado where Luke will be attending Denver Seminary.  If you didn't catch that update check it out here: February 2016 Update

Here's what we've been up to and an explanation as to why I haven't been blogging.

February 22 - Emily turned THREE!

March 20 -23 - We attended the Missionary Ventures Latin American Conference in Matagalpa, Nicaragua.  We enjoyed cooler temps, fellowship, and great teaching.

March 27 - We hosted an Easter Sunrise Service at our home.  It was a special morning of singing praise, reading scripture, and prayer.

April 3 - David and Emily participated in a children-led worship time at our church.  The songs were by SEEDS Family Worship.

April 8-10 - Luke took 33 students along with 8 other adults on the Middle School Retreat to Ometepe Island.  They hiked to the top of Maderas Volcano and back, a goal that took nine hours to complete. This marked Luke's 8th time up this volcano!

Now to the reason for my blogging absence....

Since January 25th I've been writing my first book!  It's called Missionaries Are Real People.

Many assume that missionaries don't struggle and aren't hurting.  In my book I talk about the real issues and pressures missionaries face like: depression, burnout, and conflict.  I write about the dynamic relationships that missionaries have with each other and with God. Drawing on my experiences growing up in Bolivia and then in Nicaragua as an adult, I talk about what living on the mission field is really like, with all its joys and struggles.

By the way, I would recommend my cover designer to anyone! He was easy to work with, patient with my pickiness, and would not stop until I was 100% satisfied! Best of all, I'm married to the guy!
