Three Wonderful Gifts

"For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
   And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
- Isaiah 9:6

Christmas is a time of celebrating the most precious gift God could give man.  Christmas is a time of giving and receiving gifts as we reflect on the ultimate gift of God’s Son.  Christmas is a time of joy and peace as we think on God’s amazing, sacrificial love that He would not only give His son to us but also send Him to die so that we may have life!

This Christmas season we are celebrating Christ’s birth along with the many other gifts that God has poured out on us.  Here’s an update on the three wonderful gifts that God has given us:

David...

... is four years old and loves going to his Nicaraguan Preschool called Mincaito.  This kid loves any kind of learning atmosphere and opportunity to use scissors, glue, crayons, etc.  David really enjoys building, drawing, and creating!  He loves superheroes, trains, chocolate milk, and passing on information to his sisters.

Emily...

... is almost three years old and loves to dance!  She’s been picking up Spanish from David and can’t wait to join him at school in January.  Emily is bold, assertive, caring, and energetic.  She really holds her own and goes at everything with determination and confidence.  She loves her bear blanket, baby doll, and baby sister.

Lucy...

... turned one in September and is a bundle of energy and joy!  She was our quickest walker (at 11 months) and has picked up speed quickly.  We will often find her toddling through the house laughing at seemingly nothing!  Lucy is constantly singing and her favorite words are “uh oh” and “hola”.  She is our cuddler and loves to suck her left thumb and rub her right ear at the same time.

We are praising God for:
  • Financial provision for our family to make the transition back to Nicaragua in June; we were blessed with several one-time gifts that helped especially with moving expenses.
  • A house that better serves the needs of our growing family (best perk: more yard space for the kids and no neighbors driving in and out of the property as at our old house).
  • Visits from grandparents!  Ellen’s parents will be here the day after Christmas until the end of the year and Luke’s parents come for a visit from January 1-11.

Would you please pray for:
  • Wisdom and patience as we parent.
  • Our kids’ hearts to be drawn to Jesus.
  • Christ to be exalted in every area of our lives and the people we interact with.

We pray this Christmas season is a time of celebration for you and your family as well.  May you receive God’s many gifts with joy and most of all, praise Him for the gift of Jesus!

Merry Christmas,
Luke, Ellen, David, Emily, and Lucy Rosenberger
