An attempt to revive...

I guess one thing definitely changed when my second baby was born: gone were the blog posts.

Hmm...last one was on February 20, 2013.  Ironically, I was musing in that blog how long we would be waiting on this little girl, whose due date was 2 1/2 weeks away.  Little did we know that she would choose to make her appearance a mere 2 days after that last blog post.

Since my kiddos were born 19 months apart, it honestly felt like I had two babies on my hands during the first few months.  I actually even had several people say to me "It's really like you have two babies." Although I'm fairly certain I did not go completely crazy, it was a challenge to say the least.  And yet it was a fun and fulfilling challenge.

Now that David is 2 1/2 years old as opposed to 1 1/2 years old when Emily was born, I'm enjoying that he is quite a bit more independent.  And Emily also has entered some stages of independence such as not needing to be nursed every few hours and being able to crawl to where she wants to go.  It is also a wonderful thing that they can be entertained by each other.

So, perhaps now I can revive this blog.  Because I really have missed it.  Yet I could never find the energy or the time to sit down and write.  Anyone?  I've missed the thinking and the reflecting and the writing.  The creating, the deleting, the rewriting, and the final product.

I have always enjoyed writing and yet, through all the diaper changing, nursing, playing, chasing kids, I had sort of forgotten that.  I don't have an ounce of regret for taking care of my kids' needs and spending precious time with them.  And yet I'm also finding that to be a healthy and joyful mom, it is also practical to build in little times of doing things that I enjoy (aka: playing guitar, reading, and now the rediscovered love of writing).

And what I love most about this post (and hopefully the others to come) is that it hasn't been motivated out of guilt.  "Oh I should really do a blog post....ugh, it's been months..."  None of that.  Just the pure enjoyment of writing and creating.

Thanks for listening.

Until next time!  (Which hopefully will not be another 12 months and 9 days.)

Ok, fine, for you picture people out there, I will end with a picture of the two wonderful, energetic, beautiful reasons for my long absence from this blog.
